About the Texoma Birth Center

Purchased in the spring of 2015, after a fire had consumed my home office a few months prior, the Texoma Birth Center was established to provide comprehensive midwifery services to women wishing to birth outside of the hospital in a more home-like and comfortable environment. As a mother of 8 children and a professional midwife I understand the importance of having a variety of options available when it comes to care providers and deciding on where to give birth. The hospital is not everyone's first choice, but neither is staying at home. The Texoma Birth Center offers an option for women to receive all standard prenatal and postpartum care at our facility in addition to birthing suites that provide comfort and security to laboring mothers.

A lot of hard work has gone into renovating our facility to bring it to where it is today. A special thanks to all those that took part. The birth center consists of a beautifully tiled foyer to welcome each person who enters. The tiles used were remnants from the fire that took place in November of 2014 at my home prenatal office. It's a continual reminder that sometimes life gets tough but that we do not give up, we persevere. This is an encouragement to the ladies that labor here. Sometimes in labor the going gets tough, but women are strong, mothers are dedicated. We keep going, we persevere and when we make it through we are rewarded beyond our dreams.

We have a lovely Livingroom that serves as our waiting room and our classroom when we teach childbirth classes. It's comfortable and feels like home making it a wonderful place to sit and talk about birth. There is plenty of space for friends and family to visit while they wait for new little ones to arrive.

We have a rather large office in the back side of the house. It is where I spend the majority of my time as I study and prepare for taking care of each of my clients. It also makes a very nice place to sit and counsel privately for families who need some special one on one time.

We have a prenatal room designed to be a fun and cheery room. It's bright and colorful, making it the perfect place to touch and listen to and communicate with your baby. It's my favorite room and brings a sense of joy to all who enter in.

Our facility has two bathrooms, one at the end of the hall that we use as our prenatal bathroom, offering relief to expectant mothers (anyone who has been pregnant and had a baby pushing on their bladder knows exactly what I mean), and one attached to our main birthing suite that has an oversized tub that is perfect for water births.

As mentioned previously, we have 2 birthing suites. Both provide a quiet, calm and secure feeling to all visitors. They are designed with the laboring mother in mind as they maintain a consistent, homey feel. A mother can labor unhindered and uninhibited in a home-like setting instead of in a room with hospital gowns, beeping equipment and medical gadgets all around. Since birth is a natural event the birthing environment should also feel natural.

Thank you for your interest in the Texoma Birth Center. We hope you'll come visit us soon.

"And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee." - Deuteronomy 7:13
